50 things…

In honor of my 50th birthday this year, I’ve made a list of the 50 most important lessons of my life. Get comfortable and let’s get into it.

Just kidding.

Gag. Can you imagine? 🙄 I wouldn’t even want to read 50 lessons from my life, and I’m the one writing!

So seriously, in 50 years, I have learned two things that have made me a better person.

  1. Love God.

Don’t get weird about this one. Of course we don’t all share the same beliefs, but believing in some kind of higher power is good. It is helpul to believe in a bigger picture. There is purpose in this life beyond your own pursuits. The sun doesn’t rise and fall with you. Believe in God and love Him.

  2. Love other people.

This is much harder than it sounds. Start with your own family. LOVE the members of your family—the smart ones, the fun ones, the annoying ones, and the crazy ones. Then expand your circle and love everyone else.

This may require you to hold your tongue when a stupid comment is made and you have a perfect, snarky comeback. It may look like smiling instead of throat-punching a person who is smacking their gum next to you. It might look like listening to another person with an intent to understand, rather than jumping in to educate 🙄🙄.

That’s it.

I’m sure other 50 year-olds have a much more comprehensive list.

This is mine.
